Safety System
Design:
The safety system is made up of an array of ultrasonic sensors. Each ultrasonic sensor emits a cone out from the sensor at 15 degrees. By offsetting each sensor we can use these cones to track if anything is within the 7x7 board. The sensors keep track of distance and send a signal back to the microcontroller so if it reads a distance that is smaller than 7ft the microcontroller will read this as not safe because something is on the board.
Mounting:
The mounts for the ultrasonic sensors had to be designed with the 15 degree cone that they emit in mind. Since this cone is in all directions from the ultrasonic sensor the mounts had to be angled up so that the bottom of the cone would be parallel with the floor. By tilting the sensors up 7.5 degrees it makes sure it won't get false readings from the game board or the bean bags on the game board.
